I am on a pleasant trek along this trail and am looking a canoe that ran into a bit of a problem on the Warner Rapids (named after senator Warner who got the dam removed). In the foreground is a portion of the dam and a plaque to senator Warner. To the left are remnants of the dam. The fellows dislodged their canoe as I prepared this post. This canal was a potential avenue of approach that the Alabama Infantry Brigade under Wilcox guarded in the Fredericksburg Campaign of December 1862. They received artillery bombardment but no direct attack
