Hard Times in Frederick

This little corner restaurant on the Promenade is closed and the paper this morning said the Frederick BP Solar Systems closed with 250 employees laid off to move offshore. We have our state song back in Kentucky that speaks of "Hard times come aknockin..." and I reckon it visited at La Dolce Vita.

Sexagenarian

I succeeded in my diet this winter returning to 150 pounds and shaping up in a vigorous swimming program. We were invited to come downtown for an award presentation "in suits." I pulled out this beautiful Armani that now fits again to a tee and figured I ought to update a portrait while the time was ripe.

Buds a Blooming

This tree along Carroll Creek has the most developed flowers I seen here on the first full day of Spring. I think this to be a Pink Dogwood like I had in my front yard growing up

Steeples of Frederick

Carroll Creek
This is an evening shot looking east toward town. The setting sun behind me casts its light directly on the steeples of several downtown churches and the old courthouse. This cityscape is used by many merchants here as a symbol of historic Frederick, and it is a delight to behold time and again in my evening strolls along the creek.

Spring has Sprung

Today is the Spring Equinox this year and the first full day of Spring will be tomorrow on the 21st. The snow has finally melted here abouts and we are enjoying temperatures in the mid 70s. This day also marked the 29th year for son Tyson, our Spring Surprise. I am out walking the town today with a new Yashica 135mm lens and spied these first blooms this year.
