Greek Festival

Each year just a few blocks up the sweet the Orthodox Church has a Greek Festival. The entertainment this evening is a Greek band with traditional music and dancers; and of course most importantly -- great Greek food.

Culler Lake Mist

A slight mist arises from Culler Lake just across from my abode and Frederick High School, and is located in Baker Park. We had a cool front and evening shower a few minutes ago that caused the mist. The little lake is fed by Carroll Creek.

Foaming Fountain

Baker Park - Frederick
Or so I thought at first. The fountain is covered with pollen. The light shinning through and the clearing about the center give an eerie affect

Flood Basin

Baker Park - Frederick
Benz Street flood control point. This reservoir is the first defense. There is another man-made catch like this one next to it. After that the park itself contains flood waters behind a six foot levee

Raging Creek

Carroll Creek - Frederick
It has been raining off and on since the marathon and the creek across from the house is up and fast. This sort of thing used to be a problem in downtown Frederick, but is under control now through some engineering to prevent flooding in town

St Michael's ACC Altar

Frederick -- A couple of months ago I posted a photo of the Lutheran church used by the little Anglo Catholic Church I frequent in Frederick. The Lutheran altar with this picture of Christ above is show here with the Anglo-Catholic treatments including altar cards, the veiled Communion set, and the Crucifix that replaces the plain cross. The card on the left side is the Last Gospel -- John 1, a practice of the Latin rite of the Church.

Frederick Marathon

Sunday morning run of 26.2 miles & a half marathon too. Carroll parkway is jammed as the runners move me back into the court yard run up off the road . I just got to cheer on my workmate, a consummate marathoner and triathlete. This morning she introduces her young niece to the half distance. The weather is perfect: cool in the 50s, overcast, a very slight precipitation, and wind maybe 3-5mph. Last night I ran my first race as a part of this series: the Frederick 5K at my workmate's encouragement. Finished in the middle top half. Not bad at 59.
